Speaker Bio
Born and raised along the Kikori River Delta in Papua New Guinea. Joice began her career with an NGO that worked towards community development. Now she's Field Manager with the Piku Biodiversity Network, a non-government community-based organization that has its origins in the work of scientists along the Kikori. The Piku Biodiversity Network works with an aim of biodiversity conservation and facilitates. The Piku Biodiversity Network's members use approaches that are suitable for PNG cultures.
Joyce belongs to the Kerewo Tribe, one of ten tribes who speak different and distinct languages across the Kikori River Delta. Her job is to facilitate the work of environmental education, generational knowledge communication and support for community conservation action in the many tribes, villages and clans in this area, demonstrating to the rest of PNG that there is strength, resilience and sustainability in diversity.
