Cdr Teri Share enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces Regular Officer Training Program in 2002 from Kleinburg, Ontario. After graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and completing initial Naval Warfare Officer training she served onboard HMCS PROTECTEUR where she earned her Bridge Watchkeeping Certificate while deployed in the Middle East and Pacific.
In 2010, she completed the Fleet Navigating Officer Course and was employed as a Navigating Officer participating in OP CARRIBE (in support of American Led anti-drug operations in the Caribbean Sea) and deploying off the coast of Libya for OP MOBILE. Cdr Share then specialized in AOR Shiphandling and Navigation and was employed as the Navigating Officer of HMCS PRESERVER participating in two more OP CARRIBEs, multi-national exercise UNITAS and NATO Exercise JOINT WARRIOR off the coast of the UK.
After time at MARLANT Headquarters as Assistant Fleet Scheduler and being awarded a Master of Maritime Management from Memorial University of Newfoundland, she successfully challenged the Operations Room Officer Course and Command Development Course and was subsequently posted to HMCS CHARLOTTETOWN as Operations Officer and deployed on OP REASSURANCE, in consort with Standing NATO Maritime Group 1 and in support of surveillance operations in the Eastern Mediterranean. After assuming Command of HMCS SHAWINIGAN in July 2018, she maintained a busy schedule of domestic operations but the highlight and ultimate career changing moments were during OP PROJECTION WEST AFRICA 2019. The team operated predominantly in the Gulf of Guinea in support of Women, Peace and Security, supported two multinational exercises, participated in numerous community relations events, and conducted maritime capacity building within the region.
In 2020, Cdr Share started working with Directorate Naval Personnel in a new position of Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) Diversity and Inclusion Officer. Here, she has been involved in initiatives around implementing Women, Peace and Security, Employment Equity, Anti-Racism and Inclusion within the RCN.
