This session looks at top inhibitors to faster integration for the defense industry and within the US security cooperation programs. What are the lessons from AUKUS in terms of US regulatory landscape? This is about increasing industrial capacity aka ‘Freedoms Forge’ and Knudsen – how do we do that now before it is too late?

This session will see groups of 8 sit down at tables with a facilitator and a note-taker at each table. Each table will have a different topic including:

  1. What are the regulatory obstacles to greater integration efforts inside the US?
  2. What are the primary obstacles inside US defense industry to greater integration?
  3. How do we overcome regulatory obstacles inside the US system?
  4. What are the primary policy obstacles to greater integration inside your country?
  5. Who are the main stakeholders in this debate? What role should each actor have to help with integration?
  6. How did the US and its allies adjust the regulatory landscape to assist Ukrainian armed forces? What can be applied to the Indo-Pacific region?

This session looks at what lessons have been learned from the past two days. Senior officials will moderate a session that draws from the breakout groups and seeks to refine those insights into clear recommendations. This will be ranked in importance, by stakeholder, and by country. These recommendations can be debated until some consensus is reached by the group.
