This session examines the strengths and weaknesses of two major approaches to WPS implementation: with and without national action plans (NAPs). It also aims to focus on when, how, and why the absence of a NAP may be the ‘preferred’ route to advance varying political, strategic, and pragmatic interests of actors in the Asia Pacific.
Break Out Groups: All CSCAP members and participants will be divided into two groups. Group 1 will consist of members and participants representing contexts where NAPs are in place while Group 2 will be for contexts without NAPs. The group will discuss the learning of implementing a WPS agenda with a NAP and no-NAP, the strength and weaknesses, as well as implications for developing WPS strategy at the regional level.
